The Huchuy Qosqo tour to Machu Picchu offers you an incredible walk to the archaeological center of Huchuy Qosqo, the sacred valley and we will visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, we will also be able to appreciate wonderful archaeological centers, picturesque towns and a diversity of landscapes.
This tour to Machu Picchu is designed for our passengers who are looking to get out of the routine of traditional excursions to Machu Picchu because we will hike through the Sacred Valley of the Incas with incredible views to finally reach Machu Picchu, a living Inca citadel built by one of the greatest Incas «Pachacútec».
The tour to Huchuy Qosqo and Machu Picchu begins at 6:00 am with hotel pickup and a private transfer to the archaeological site of Tambomachay. From here, we will begin the hike through puna landscapes and cross the Sicllaccasa pass (4020 m / 13186 ft). We will follow a path that will take us to the Ccauca ravine , where we will find archaeological remains and wild vegetation such as tarwi, as well as numerous cacti. We will continue towards the Queullococha pass (4185 m / 13727 ft), surrounded by spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks of Verónica, Pitusiray and Chicon.
We will walk next to Lake Queullococha , where you can see huallatas , ducks and small fish , and then ascend towards the Challu pass. Challu (4220 m / 13842 ft). From here, we will enjoy views of the Chinchero plains and the Piuray and Qoricocha lagoons. Then, we will ascend to the fourth pass at Rumicruz (4230 m / 13874 ft).
Later, we will travel along an ancient Inca Trail until we reach the Inca quarry (4220 m / 13842 ft), where the stones were extracted to build Huchuy Qosqo. Finally, we will descend towards the community of Pucamarca (4010 m / 13153 ft), where we will arrive in the afternoon. Here we will have dinner and camp overnight.
After breakfast, we leave at 7:00 am from our camp to continue towards Huchuy Qosqo. We descend walking towards the León Punku ravine, where we find remains of an Inca bridge and ancient trails.
This canyon has geological formations surrounded by majestic rocks that direct the river towards Huchuy Qosqo (3600 m / 11808 ft). Huchuy Qosqo is an Inca archaeological complex with imposing architecture , which includes a ceremonial center from which we will enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley and the Vilcanota River.
After the explanation, we begin a walk of approximately two hours until we reach Taucca, where we will have lunch. From here, we take our private transportation to the Ollantaytambo station and board the train to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a pleasant hotel.

Very early, after breakfast, we headed to the station to board the bus, making a 30-minute trip to the Citadel of Machu Picchu. In this way, we will be one of the first groups to enter the Inca city, which will allow us to enjoy the majestic sunrise. Then, we will have a guided tour of approximately three hours through the most important enclosures, temples and Inca palaces within the citadel of Machu Picchu, accompanied by a guide.
After the guided tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the mysterious Inca city on your own. (Optionally, you can hike and ascend the mountain of Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu for an additional cost of $70 USD per person).
At the appropriate time, we will descend from Machu Picchu towards Aguas Calientes to board our train back to Ollantaytambo, and from there we will continue by car to Cusco. Our arrival in Cusco is scheduled at approximately 6:30 PM, and then we will transfer to your respective hotels. In this way, our Huchuy Qosqo – Machu Picchu tour ends.
