We offer two departure times so you can choose the most convenient one according to your itinerary:
We will pick you up at your hotel 15 minutes before the start of the Cusco city tour.
To start, we will head to Sacsayhuamán , whose Quechua name means «satisfied falcon.» This place, known as the «house of the sun» in Inca times, was a religious center of great relevance due to its enormous stone blocks.
Later, we will explore Qenqo , which in Quechua means «labyrinth.» This site is famous for its labyrinthine underground galleries and zigzagging canals, characteristics that earned it its name in Spanish.
We will continue our tour with a visit to the traditional San Pedro Local Market , where we will become familiar with local flavors by interacting directly with local products.
Then, we will visit the Temple of Qoricancha , known in Quechua as the «Golden Enclosure». This temple was sacred and housed the Inca priests in charge of worshiping the Sun God.
We will end our tour exploring the Plaza de Armas of Cusco and walking through the main streets of the city, where walls and buildings from the Inca era are still preserved, such as the famous Stone of the 12 Angles on Loreto Intikijllu Street .
The tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel in Cusco.
Qoricancha : The convent was built on the spectacular Qoricancha, also known as the «golden site», the most important dedicated to the cult of the sun, whose walls were covered with gold sheets. This convent is built using finely crafted polished stone structures as a base. Its gate is an excellent example of the Renaissance and its only baroque-style tower stands out against the tiled roofs of the city. Like all temples, it has an important collection of canvases from the Cusco school .
Plaza de Armas of Cusco : On our visit to the Plaza de Armas, we will visit the cathedral of Cusco and the temple of the Company of Jesus , which in Inca times were palaces of the Inca rulers. We will also explore main streets such as the famous 12 Angle Stone , as well as walls, palaces and buildings from the Inca era that are still well preserved. In addition, we can take beautiful photos inside this sacred square.
Saqsayhuamán : Imposing example of Inca military architecture, this fortress was built with large blocks of granite and dedicated to protecting the city of Cusco from the attacks of the invaders from the east or Antis. Saqsayhuamán (in Quechua, «satisfied falcon») is made up of three large terraces superimposed in a zigzag shape and bordered by enormous rock walls up to 300 meters long. Due to its proximity and elevation with respect to Cusco and the dimensions of its stones, up to 5 meters high and weighing 350 tons, this site served as a quarry for certain buildings in colonial Cusco.
Qenqo : Located four kilometers northeast of the city of Cusco, Qenqo is a ritual center built on a unique outcrop of limestone rock, with underground galleries and a semicircular amphitheater. It has the archaeological groups of Qenqo Grande and Qenqo Chico . Etymologically, its name means labyrinth or zigzag, and it served a purely religious function. On the outside there is a semicircular amphitheater with trapezoidal niches and a monolith that simulates a puma, which measures approximately six meters.
San Pedro Market : The San Pedro Local Market is one of the oldest in Cusco, founded in 1925. Until now, it continues to be the largest concentration point for the supply of basic necessities for Cusco residents and visitors. Without a doubt, it is a fascinating and fun cultural and experiential experience to learn about the Andean culture. Here you can hear the Quechua language pronounced correctly, observe gestures and habits common in the Andean culture, and feel the mix of smells of local products and flowers. Finally, you can see handmade garments and some places where they are made in a typical way.
